Rumi at Parnell introduces a traditional Persian dining experience to Auckland, serving authentic home-made dishes, using all fresh ingredients and local produce.

Khosro, the head chef and owner, and his wife Shahla take you on a culinary journey of hearty dishes they have been creating since 1974, starting in their home-town, Tehran. In 2015, they opened Rumi in New Zealand, in order to continue celebrating their passion for cooking and flavoursome food, through the richness of their heritage and culture.

The restaurant has a ‘’field to fork’’  approach, showcasing the best produce Auckland has to offer. This is traditional cooking inspired by the bounty of nature, surrounding Khosro in his new home-town, Auckland. He sources his ingredients from local farms, fresh markets and fields. He obtains traditional Persian spices from selected top importers across New Zealand. His authentic Persian recipes combined with the excellent local product are traditionally shared with family and friends, in a cosy, home-style ambience.
